Athletes of Turkmen kickboxing school have distinguished in two large competitions taken place recently in Latvia and Germany.
International Tournament in Riga (Latvia), besides the home team, has hosted kickboxers from Russia, England, Italy, Austria, Poland, Turkmenistan, Finland, Estonia, and Lithuania – in total more than six hundred sportsmen. Participants have competed for medals in several disciplines of kickboxing. The residents of Turkmenistan performed in two of them – K-1 and full contact, having gained absolute result – 7 finals of 7 possible.
In full contact discipline, “gold” was gained by Mekan Amanov – in weight class up to 67 kilograms and Pygy Silabov – up to 57 kg.
In the tournament K-1, our kickboxers also won four gold medals. The winners were Rejep Atayev in weight class up to 60 kg as well as Shamered Khalliyev (up to 57 kg), Ismail Atayev (up to 63.5 kg) and Shohrat Yagmyrov (up to 71 kg).
At the tournament in the German city – Ebern, the sport attainments of our sportsmen were replenished with another four gold, a silver and bronze medals.
At present, the leading kickboxers of the country prepare for main national contests of this year – Championship of Turkmenistan to be held from April 26 to May 1 in the administrative center of Dashoguz province. According to its results, it will be formed the composition of national team, which has to compete in autumn of the current year for medals of two World Championships – in full contact in Ireland and K-1 and low kick in Serbia.
