Turkmenistan hosted the International sports media forum

Ashgabat hosted the International sports media forum that was organized by the V Asian Games Executive Committee, the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country. The forum was held within the framework of the Conference “2017 Asian Games and the Role of Turkmenistan in Sport for Development and Peace”.

The guests included the delegates from many countries of Asia and Europe, including the United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the United Kingdom, Austria and France, among others.

The forum brought together specialists in sports industry from Turkmenistan and foreign countries, media experts, representatives of sectoral agencies, sports organisations and the media. In particular, representatives of a number of leading international news agencies, including CNN International, AP, Sports News Television, Sport Business, Korean Broadcasting System and others arrived in Turkmenistan to take part in the forum.

John Tibbs – Chairman of the Jon Tibbs Associates (JTA), one of the Olympic Mov top consultancy firms, noted that within the framework of the forum Turkmenistan hospitably opened up to the world demonstrating its successes and adopted the best practice in organisation of large sports events.

Representatives of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the World Taekwondo Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee, ANO "Executive directorate of sports projects" and other authoritative sports and news agencies addressed the forum.

The sections of the international forum were dedicated to the organisation of large international tournaments, including 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and 2013 Universiade in Kazan, and their coverage in mass media.

Particular attention was paid to the role of mass media in covering sports events in the epoch of digital information technologies.

Representatives of foreign countries had an opportunity to see the progress of preparations for the V Asian Games and the facilities of the Olympic Village that will host the games.
