Kurash Wrestling Championship of Turkmenistan was held in Turkmenabat. This kind of national single combats is identical with our traditional ‘yakalashma’, which is particularly developed in the eastern region of the country, its southern etraps. Therefore, full advantage of pupils of famous Lebap wrestling school was not a surprise. Duels were held in seven weight categories simultaneously on three carpets in the specialized sport school # 4.


Duels in nomination 81 kilograms were of great interest for specialists and spectators. Here, the best was Muhamed Temirov – silver prizewinner of Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts – 2013 in the Korean city – Inchon. In nomination 90 kilograms, Yalkab Muradov from Khalach etrap won a victory over Nabi Aliyev from Turkmenabat.

In the weight class of 100 kilograms, the champion of Asian Games-2013 in Inchon and leader of the capital’s army team Nurali Yalkabov confidently approach to the final, winning early victories. In main meet of competitions, he won a victory over his fellow-townsman Dovlet Utenov from etrap named after Beyik Turkmenbashi.

At the end of April, the Turkmen wrestlers will take part in the continental kurash championship to be held in the capital of Lebanon – Beirut.
