The tennis complex, opened recently at the Ashgabat stadium, hosted the junior tournament for tennis players in the under-14 and under-18 age groups.
Only girls performed in the younger age group. The age group winner is Anastasia Azimbaeva coached by Veronika Babayan. The tennis player from Ashgabat gained a decisive victory over her group mate Kristina Matus in the finals. A tennis player from Ashgabat Nailya Rahmatulina took the third place.
The tennis players coached by Marina Bander – Arzuw Klycheva and Arslan Yusupov gained the victory in the final for the under-18 age group. Ailar Atadurdyeva and Emiliya Tamaeva, who won ‘silver’ and ‘bronze’ respectively, are the winners in the girls’ tournament, and Nurgeldy Suleimanov and Pigam Nepesov took the second and third places in the boys’ tournament respectively.
Young tennis players competed in the doubles competitions, namely in the mixed doubles event. The duo A. Klycheva - A. Yusupov, who displayed the highest level of sportsmanship, left their opponents A. Atadurdyeva and P. Nepesov no chance of winning in the finals. S. Hamraeva and M. Gaidarov climbed the third step of the podium in the mixed doubles event.
The Junior Davis Cup for tennis players from 14 to 16 years of age was launched in the capital of Thailand, Bangkok on April 17. Turkmenistan team is competing for the honorary tennis trophy together with the teams from dozens of countries of the world. The prestigious competitions will last till April 26.

The final of the men’s doubles tournament between Kurbanberdy Kurbanberdyev and Atly Kurbanov from the National Institute of Sports and Tourism and Guvanch Seyidov and Amangeldy Garadurdyev from Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications was most spectacular. The young sportsmen from the Institute of Transport and Communications rank among the top tennis players in our country, and the students from National Institute of Sports and Tourism are the members of the national team. It was they who won the first place in the student tennis tournament. Their opponents won the title of vice champions. The tennis players from the State Institute of Architecture and Construction took the third place.
