Forum entitled “Turkmen-Chinese dialogue: transport cooperation for sustainable development” was held in Lanchow, administrative center of the Chinese province Gansu. High-ranking employees of the government of the province, responsible workers of Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, Turkmen experts in the sphere of transport, specialists of the University, and representatives of mass media took part in the forum at the Transport University of Lanchow.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) informs, at the forum, it was discussed the consolidation of efforts in transit-transport sector, significant role of improvement of management of borders and maintenance of security, legal aspects. Discussions and presentations allowed the participants familiarizing with proposals on diversification of transport ties of Turkmenistan and China.
It was discussed the development of cultural and economic relations between our countries within the framework of concept “New Silk Road”, considered the railway variant of this road from China to Turkmenistan, as well as the Chinese experience of construction of high-speed railways.
As the contributors underlined, the Lanchow Dialogue will become a step of realization of the initiatives of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on creation of architecture of new geo-economic space, uniting the Central Asia, Caspian, Black Sea and Baltic regions, Middle and Near East, Southern and Southeastern Asia.
It was discussed the expansion of cooperation in transport sphere taking into account scale projects, being realized by Turkmenistan. On the basis of Turkmenistan on the intersection of major trade ways of the continent “North-South” and “East-West”, it is created the international transit-transport junction, laid and designed the thousands kilometers of railways and autobahns, constructed and modernized sea and air harbors. Transit through territory of Turkmenistan is also of great interest for Chinese partners for transportation of their goods to Europe.
Fruitful view exchange on transport, trade-economic and humanitarian issues was also held the day before, in the course of meetings of the Turkmen delegation with governmental delegation of Gansu province at the head of vice-governor, as well as with the leadership of Transport University of Lanchow.
