Traditional annual equestrian marathon was held near picturesque place Gokdere. Show jumping contest took place in the International Equestrian Complex. Both tournaments organized by “Turkmen atlary” State Association, State Committee for sports and National Center of Equestrian Sports are timed to the Turkmen Horse Day.
Thirty-three thoroughbred Akhalteke horses – the representatives of teams of Akhalteke equestrian complex of the President of Turkmenistan, Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs, Balkan, Mary provinces and others took part in the marathon race. Distance of competitions was 60 kilometers with intermediate finish in the mid of marathon section.
“Winged” racers have to show speed qualities, sport endurance: during passing the distance, the horses twice – in the middle and in finish – underwent the medical control (checkup of temperature, pulse rate and breath). Taking into account exceptional endurance of the Turkmen “heavenly” argamaks, nearly all Akhalteke horses were able to pass 60-kilometer long distance from start to finish.
Musical program of performances of popular Turkmen singers and dance groups was prepared on the large open ground for numerous spectators, including participants of VII International Scientific Conference “Turkmen racer and world horse-breeding art” and International Fair.
It is also worth mentioning about participating racers, who differ with exceptional origin from famous horses gained great victories at the large international marathon competitions and races. They are dark bay Peykam, black Shahmerdan, bay Gokhan, light-bay Piyada and other Akhalteke horses whose sport talent was passed to present generation of Turkmen racers.
Now, a panel of judges under leadership of main referee of equestrian marathon – Guillermo Lockhart from Uruguay has to determine the winner and prizewinners of this exciting contest. Its results will be announced in the last Sunday of April – on the National Holiday.
On the same day, it will be also announced the results of show jumping competitions, which were held after completion of equestrian marathon. Four teams – Akhalteke horse complex of the President of Turkmenistan, National Center of equestrian sport, Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs put forward their participants in the tournament on Olympic kind of sport. Twelve best Turkmen riders demonstrated their mastery. Numerous fans, who filled the stands of the International Equestrian Complex came to support and became the witnesses of beautiful and fascinating competitions.
Tournament participants had to overcome 10 obstacles of different height and complicacy. According to the regulations of the competitions, the rider, who was not able to overcome the same obstacle twice, is removed from further fight for medals. So, in the present tournament, all Akhalteke horses excellently coped with their tasks that attached particular interest and spectacular to the contests.
We have only to wait for April 26 in order to know the name of winner. In the last year, main prize of competitions was gained by F. Zaripova together with her beautiful racer Yerbent II. Could she keep her title of the best master of show jumping of Turkmenistan, it will be known in several days.
