At the International Ice Dancing Festival in Moscow, the Turkmen figure skaters from “Maral” group won a Cup in nomination “Artistic originality of the dance”.
The current 29th competition, which hosted on the ice arena of “Luzhniki” Sport Complex nearly 40 dance groups from several countries, became the third for the residents of Turkmenistan. Previous two performances have been also marked with victories: in 2013, our figure skaters became the best in nomination “For best choreography”, and in the last year, they won main Cup in the fight for “Originality of performance”.
And today, the attainments of the Turkmen figure skating school have been replenished with another trophy of the Moscow competitions, which was organized nearly three decades ago by the legendary Russian athlete, repeated Olympic champion Irina Rodnina.
She also became the initiator of recent visit to the Turkmen capital of one of the best tutors on figure skating – Yelena Chaikovskaya. The Russian coach arrived in Ashgabat for selection of prospective young sportsmen and their preparation for contests of international level, including for XXIX International Ice Dancing Festival.
It is also worth mentioning that at the beginning of this month, another group of young Turkmen figure skaters from “Guncha” dance group has distinguished in Open Cup of Minsk (Republic of Belarus), having won 4 medals – 2 gold, a silver and bronze.
