Turkmen athletes prepare for the London Olympics

One more athlete has joined the ranks of the Olympic team of Turkmenistan. Following the weightlifters who won three quota places for the 2012 Olympic Games at the 2011 World Championships in Paris, a judoka G. Hayitbaeva (under 63 kg) won a quota place in the 2012 Olympic Games. This news was reported by the International Judo Federation (IJF).

A student of the national Institute of Sport and Tourism G. Hayitbaeva, who is the 63rd in the world ranking, gained 80 points in the international tournaments and was awarded the continental quota place of the Judo Union of Asia (JUA).

The 26-year-old judoka, the bronze-medal winner of the 2011 Open European Cup in Turkey will make her debut in the Olympic Games. She is currently preparing for this large sporting event under the supervision of the coach of the national women’s team O. Muhammetnazarov.

According to the National Olympic Committee, the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) and International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) provided two quota places (one for men and one for women) for the London Olympic Games. The Turkmen athletes will compete for these quota places in the qualification tournaments.

Boxers, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers, judokas and weightlifters will compete for the quota places in the qualification tournaments in the months to come.
