Neutrality of Turkmenistan – the foundation of peace, friendship and cooperation

Scientific Conference “Neutrality of Turkmenistan – the foundation of peace and security, friendship and fruitful cooperation” was held at the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly. It was organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with TSU.

The representatives of international and regional organizations, diplomatic representative offices and missions accredited to Turkmenistan, foreign-policy department of the country, social organizations, mass media, teaching staff and students of several higher educational establishments of the capital took part in the work of the forum devoted to the 20th anniversary of the country’s neutrality.

The contributors have noted that steadily pursuing the policy of neutrality, the Turkmen state successfully develops fruitful cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral format, expands and deepens the political dialogue with world community.

UN Resident Coordinator, Resident Representative of UNDP in Turkmenistan Jacinta Barrins noted that the Turkmen model of neutrality is in tune with the ideas and goals of the United Nations Organization, and it contributes to the expansion of full-scale partnership of the country with all structures of this international organization. Making ponderable contribution to the maintenance of universal peace and security, sustainable global development, the Turkmen state strengthens its authority as the state-peacemaker.

Within the framework of scientific forum, particular attention was paid to the socio-economic attainments of independent neutral Turkmenistan.
