Early in the morning from the tenth kilometer of “Ashgabat-Dashoguz” motorway, it was started “Ashgabat-Derveze-Ashgabat” auto marathon. Total length of its race circuit is over 700 kilometers. Organizers of this action are the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports, Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and National Motor Sports Center.

Nine crews on off-road vehicles “Nissan Patrol”, “Mitsubishi” and “Niva” set out to subjugate Garagum deserts. The Turkmen pilots and navigators: Muhammet Gurbanov – Serdar Mollamyradov, Merdan Toyliyev – Aydyn Mamedov, Gulmyrat Agamyradov – Hally Chariyev, Didar Orazmedov – Serdar Aydogdiyev and others are the active members of National Motor Sports Center.

They will sweep the first 120 kilometers by motorway, and then artlessly the competition for speed and time of overcoming the highway will continue through sands and dunes of Garagum. The length of this special section is 320 kilometers up to the finish in Derveze. It is the deserts, where the fate of race should be decided. Here, there are special sections, complicated and extensive – real sand dunes. These difficulties will reveal the strongest racing drivers of Turkmenistan.

Trip back will be less tense and race circuit will run by interurban motorway up to the capital, whereto the sportsmen will return tomorrow.

Auto marathon includes several stages. Its route was determined by the specialists of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports and National Motor Sports Center. And this racing on off-road vehicles will become valuable experience for the Turkmen pilots.

Real breakthrough in formation of motor racing in our country became the participation of the Turkmen racing drivers in the prestigious international rally “Silk Road” of Dakar series in 2009 along Kazan-Ashgabat route. Since, the Turkmen sportsmen regularly participate in such events of international significance. In 2013, National Motor Sports Center was opened in Turkmenistan.
