Open Weightlifting Championship of the capital among juniors took place in Ashgabat. Among other specialists, there was main coach of national team of Turkmenistan on this kind of sports Ikram Matkarimov.
- Practically everyone, who represents the national team, passed junior level before, - I. Matkarimov says. – We follow the young sportsmen in order that they not “be lost” and will be able to realize their potential. We have an eye to very talented young weightlifters. Among them are 15-year old candidate for master of sports Vladislav Ashirov, Bekmurad Bayjanov born in 2003, Reinbai Jumayev born in 2001. They are champions of Turkmenistan among juniors. Therefore, it is constantly organized the competitions in age categories under 16, 18 and 20 years old, which winners form the teams for international tournaments. In 2017, these sportsmen have to defend the sport honor of our country in V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in Ashgabat.
There are very strong schools in all regions of Turkmenistan. Essential conditions are created for training of athletes. There are also the centers, which have good specialists – Guvanch Gandymov and Shamsutdin Tursunmagometov from Mary province, Sanjar Kadyrbergenov from Dashoguz, Ihtiyar Jafarov from Lebap province and others.
Quality of preparation of the weightlifters in the provinces is not worse than in the capital. Most of our sportsmen are from the regions. For example, the master of sports of international class 23-year old Khojamuhammet Toychiyev. He was born in Mary province and now, he is one of the leaders of the national team, champion and record breaker of Turkmenistan.
At present, the national team of Turkmenistan prepares for the Asian Championship, and in autumn, our athletes have to compete at the World Championship in Houston (USA) for rating points to take part in the Olympic Games of 2018.
