Our sportsmen gained good result at VI World Shotokan Karate Championship completed recently in Tbilisi (Georgia). Sport attainments of Turkmenistan have been replenished with two gold and a bronze medals won in the individual kumite (single combat) and team kata (complex exercises).

The capital of Georgia hosted over 1200 sportsmen from 32 states. The highest result in composition of our combined team was shown by Zuhrajan Jumabayeva. Student of the National Institute of Sport and Tourism of Turkmenistan gained two awards at once – gold and bronze, having perfectly performed in the individual combats in group of participants of 18 years old and elder.

Zuhrajan Jumabayeva raised the highest stage of the podium in the competitions on WSKU version (World Shotokan Karate Union), and gained the third place in the single combats defined with rules of World Karate Federation (WKF).

Another “gold” success was gained by the residents of Turkmenistan in the team kata (WSKU version) of age group of 16-17 years old. It is worth mentioning that composition of our team was formed from sportsmen, representing three regional schools of Shotokan karate – Balkan, Lebap and Dashoguz provinces. In spite of this fact, the national team of Turkmenistan performed very coordinately, having shown the best sport mastery and won all of their rivals, including the team of Japan – the country, where this kind of martial art has been originated. Jelal Satlykguliyev, Oguzhan Nizamov and Hydyr Hydyrov won the medals of the highest standard.
