VI International Gas Congress in Turkmenistan

The VI International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan and the gas industry exhibition took place at the Berkarar Hotel in the Avaza national tourism zone. The forum agenda included the issues of the global cooperation in the energy sphere and ensuring energy security all around the world.

Particular attention during the congress was paid to discussions of approaches and constructive proposals on the TAPI Project, which State Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Jam Kamal Khan dedicated his report to.


Speaking about the historical importance of this large-scale pipeline, which annual capacity makes up more than 30 billion cubic metres of gas, Mr. Jam Kamal Khan underlined that the implementation of this project would contribute to strengthening peace, sustainable development and building up cooperation in the Asian region.

The reports presented by Managing Director of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited Syed Wamiq Bokhari, Director of the Office of Central Asian Affairs of the United States Department of State Grace Shelton, Executive Director of the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (Pakistan) Basharat A. Mirza, Director of the Oil and Gas Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland Malgorzata Szymanska, Chairman of the Board of the Uzbekneftegaz Company Shokir Fayzullaev, General Manager of Gas Export Department, SOCAR Gaghamali Seyfullayev, General Director of JSC "KazTransGas" Sharipbayev Kairat and others aroused keen interest among congress participants.

The second day sessions focused on the issues of strengthening existing partner relations and establishing new ones for efficient development of gas resources in Turkmenistan as well as opportunities for diversification of gas export routes from Turkmenistan.

The VI International Gas Congress organized on the Turkmen side by the Turkmengaz State Concern and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided a platform for numerous bilateral meetings of heads of the Turkmen oil and gas departments with foreign partners.
