The fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Ukrainian Commission for Economic Cooperation. A representative delegation of Ukraine head by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Gennady Zubko arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the meeting.
Meeting participants exchanged their views on the status and prospects for mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, in particular in the oil and gas, chemical and power industries, the sphere of construction, transport and communications.
The practice of work in the fuel and energy sector, in particular in the sphere of design and construction of oil and gas facilities, supply of pipe products and oil and gas equipment as well as construction of a drainage and communication channel and a complex of treatment facilities in Ashgabat was analyzed during the meeting.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint infrastructural projects, including the construction of a new airport in Turkmenabat, runway system in Dashoguz, Turkmenabat-Farab motorway and railway bridges across the Amu Darya River as well as two railway bridges along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway under construction.
Specifying agriculture as an important area of mutually beneficial relations, meeting participants called for exchange of achievements and practices in the sphere of advanced methods of growing agricultural crops, managing agricultural production, improving veterinary services and veterinary control. It was also underlined the significance of agricultural seminars, exhibitions, conferences for establishing mutually beneficial relations between specialists and scientists in the two countries.
The sides expressed belief in that the meeting of the joint commission in Ashgabat would offer a powerful incentive for building up cooperation. It was underlined the necessity to diversify trade and economic cooperation and widen bilateral trade relations. Meeting participants emphasized the significance in building up business relations between small- and medium-size enterprises, entrepreneurs as well as establishing joint enterprises in industrial sector.
Members of the commission discussed the further development of cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, legislative regulation of business activities, organization of business forums, exhibitions, fairs and the Days of economy of Turkmenistan and Ukraine.
Meeting participants called for strengthening relations in the sphere of education, science and culture, including through direct contacts between higher educational institutions, participation of workers of culture and art of the two countries in artistic forums. The sides expressed willingness to build up cooperation in the sphere of sports and tourism.
