The first Cup of Turkmenistan on billiards in discipline “Free pyramid” was held in Ashgabat. It has hosted over 60 sportsmen.
Two representatives of the capital’s team have met in the decisive game, where Batyr Ashirov got the better of Begench Aydogdiyev with a score of 7 goals to four. The residents of Ashgabat Ibabekir Bekdurdiyev and Garly Sovetov became two bronze prizewinners.
Preliminary games of the Cup of Turkmenistan took place in the capital’s billiard center “Alemgoshar”, and semifinals and decisive meeting was held at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan.
Contests were organized by the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan and Billiard Sport Federation of the country, which started to operate in June and already organized the Championship of Turkmenistan.
Billiards has been involved into program of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in 2017 in Ashgabat. Every tournament of national level is an important stage of preparation for these complex competitions.
It is known that the national team of Turkmenistan on billiards will include 20 sportsmen. They will be selected by system of calculation of points at the championships and the Cup of the country.
At present, the Turkmen billiard players have to train intensively for several large international tournaments, including Championships of the World and Asia, which are planned to be held in autumn of the current year. Officials of Billiard Sport Federation of Turkmenistan also hold active negotiations on entry of our sport organization into Asian Billiard Sport and Snooker Confederation.
