Turkmenistan-Korea forum on Sustainable Water Management took place in the conference hall in the Ýyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Ware Industry of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in our country. The main goal of the seminar is to present the projects and services based on the advanced technologies and research in this sphere as well as exchange experience.
Representatives of Korea Water Resources Corporation K-water, a world leader in the sphere of integrated water management, operating companies and producers, including Hyundai Engineering, Doosan Heavy Industry, as well as Korean Engineering and Consulting Corporation (KECC and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the forum.
Leading specialists and experts of the ministries and departments of water industry, agriculture and nature protection as well as specialists of Ashgabat Khyakimlik and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan represented our country at the forum.
Addressing the forum, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan emphasized the important role of the forum in strengthening cooperation, noting that the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the opening ceremony of the 7th World Water Summit entitled “Water for Our Future”, which took place in the Korean city of Daegu in April this year, had given it a powerful impetus to develop.
Ambassador Extraordinary and of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan Mr. Tae-In Chung underlined the important role of the meeting in enhancing cooperation that had received a powerful impetus for development due to the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the opening ceremony of the 7th World Water Summit “Water for Our Future”, which took place in Daegu, Korea in April this year.
The representatives of the friendly country were briefed on the status of water resources in Turkmenistan, the legislative support for protection and efficient use of water resources as well as a number of investment projects in the water industry, in particular construction of new water reservoirs, water engineering and reclamations facilities.
Water treatment plants and desalination units are built and water treatment facilities and water supply networks are reconstructed in the country in accordance with the General Programme for Safe Drinking Water Supply in Turkmenistan.
The project on construction of the Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake in the Karakum Desert vivid illustrates our country’s significant contribution to address global problems related to conservation of water resources of the planet.
The Korean companies made the presentations of the latest achievements in this sphere. Among them are the projects on the creation of advanced integrated water supply systems, water treatment and desalination, water quality control and renewable energy sources. K-water, which provides services in this sphere, presented the projects for river restoration, including construction of multi-purpose dams and hydroelectric power plants, flood and drought prevention and development of local economy. Hyundai Engineering, Doosan Heavy Industries and KECC presented the system solutions on processing and treating low-quality water, ensuring stable water supply and water recycling, etc.
