Resident of Turkmenistan – the prizewinner of junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship of Asia

The Turkmen sportsman became the bronze prizewinner of Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship among juniors in capital of Myanmar - Naypyidaw. The candidate for the master of sports Suleyman Velliyev, who has risen on the third step of a podium in a weight class up to 120 kg, has achieved this success.

Hundreds of young sportsmen from 18 countries of the world have taken part in competitions - Turkmenistan, Japan, China, Republic of Korea, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc. The strongest fighters have entered into team line-ups as the present Asian championship became the major stage of preparation for planet superiority on Greco-Roman wrestling which will take place on August 9th till 17th in Salvador (Brazil).


After annoying failure in a starting duel, Suleyman Velliyev has got into a group where sportsmen continued struggle for bronze awards. But, here there was no equal to the Turkmen sportsman. In a decisive duel for "bronze" medal our compatriot was resisted by the Kyrgyz fighter who could not hold out even a minute: Suleyman has spent a beautiful throw through a breast, having plunged the rival on shoulder-blade. As a result - "clean" victory.

It not a first success of S.Velliyev on the international sports arena. In 2012 in the Asian championship among juniors, he has won also a bronze medal. Besides it, there are numerous victories in superiority of Turkmenistan in the active of the Ashgabat fighter in various age groups. This year he has tested himself in competitions on Greco-Roman wrestling among men, having acted as a member of capital team in the finals of fighters’ tournament within the frameworks of the National Sports games initiated by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The debut has turned out triumphal - a gold medal.
