The Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation held its eleventh meeting in Ashgabat. The meeting brought together the heads and representatives of a number of government agencies and departments from the two countries.
The high-ranking delegation of the neighbouring country led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan E. Ganiev arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the meeting.
The participants emphasized the importance of the meeting in the context of progressively developing relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan that had been filled with new quality and content in recent years through mutual efforts. This is vividly evidenced by regular top-level meetings and talks and exchange of delegations at various levels, which directly contributes to the intensification of fruitful relations. Speaking at the meeting, the guests focused on existing opportunities to build up bilateral cooperation in the interests and for the benefit of two neighbouring brotherly nations and states.
The agenda of the eleventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation covered a wide range of aspects of bilateral cooperation. Its key areas include transport, communications, transit, trade and other sectors. The members of the Commission dwelt upon humanitarian cooperation as an integral component of interstate relations based on historically established spiritual and cultural affinities of the two neighbouring nations.
The participants in the meeting expressed belief that the Commission would continue to contribute to strengthening and expanding Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation based on the goodwill of the sides, long-term positive experience of cooperation and willingness of the two countries to fully implement the tremendous potential of cooperation in mutual interests.
