The Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat in 2017 at the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held its regular meeting in Ashgabat.
The heads of the ministries and departments responsible for preparing and holding the 2017 Asian Games presented the reports on the work done. The measures taken to train highly qualified athletes and address the key issues, such as reception, accommodation, programme of events, partnership with well-known foreign companies, etc. were discussed.
The British company CSM Sport & Entertainment LLP trading as CSM Strategies is to develop the 2017 Asian Games Master Plan, which sets forth the main preparation stages in all the functional areas.
A wide range of issues, including financial, logistical, medical and service support of the Asian Games, security of athletes and guests, management of the Olympic Village, etc. were discussed at the meeting. The agenda also covered the results of the international tender, held to select the company which would cover the events of the 2017 Asian Games and train specialists in this field.
The meeting participants discussed the issues related to the administration and operation of facilities built at the first and second stages of the Olympic Village Project, the organization of sports competitions at these facilities, test events, regular training of volunteers, who are fluent in foreign languages.
The meeting participants also discussed the issues related to task-oriented promotion of the sports movement in Turkmenistan, in particular the preparation of Turkmen sportsmen for the upcoming Asian Games. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the advisability to contract experienced foreign coaches, provide the national teams that will perform in 21 sports, which are included in the programme of the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games, with the camps for training sessions, find sponsors for each team.
Particular attention was paid to the organization of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games and the proposals from different companies for the organization of the ceremonies. It was emphasized that these spectacular festivities should reflect national traditions and customs and rich culture of the Turkmen people. This also deals with the emblems, official symbols and motto, information support of the 2017 Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games, including website maintenance.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of the well coordinated professional PR-campaign, promotion of the Games in the states of Asia and Oceania through leading international media, online resources and sports channels.
The issues related to the preparations for the 34th OCA General Assembly, which will take place in Ashgabat in September, were discussed at the meeting. Participants in the 34th OCA General Assembly are expected to sum up the preliminary stage of preparations for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games.
The 34th OCA General Assembly, which will provide a platform for the regular meetings of the OCA Coordination, Finance and Executive Committees, is expected to bring together 600 foreign guests.
