Turkmen sportsmen have won two bronze medals at the Open Championship of Asia on universal fight, which was held recently in the capital of Uzbekistan - Tashkent. At that, our team consisted of two fighters and both have returned home with an award.
About 120 sportsmen from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries participated in the competitions taken place in sport complex “Jar”. As a matter of fact, the tournament in Uzbekistan was preparation for more serious competitions - the World Championship on universal fight which will be held in November of this year in Russia.
In our team, Islam Orazmyradov, who performed in a weight class up to 65 kilograms and Muhammednur Melayev (up to 80 kg) have risen on the third step of a podium. Both sportsmen, who are engaged under the guidance of Shohrat Allayev and Rustam Kurayev, had on ring 3 duels each, having reached a semi-final and gained bronze medals.
Before coming on a ring, the participants pass an impressive obstacle course, which includes running, overcoming of high-rise barriers, tunnels, shooting on targets, throwing of knifes, etc. At that, if in shooting and throwing the sportsman makes misses, he passes penalty circles. During preliminary competitions, the Turkmen fighters had not any penalty circle.
After an obstacle course, which provides the points, the fighters appear on a ring and start a duel, lasting from two to four rounds. But often, the results of preliminary competitions turn a duel outcome to this or that advantage. It is possible to add that the similar sport develops not only combative abilities, but also physical endurance.
According to the chairman of “Hanmudo” Martial Arts Federation of Turkmenistan, Honored Coach of the country Orif Buharakov, the achievement of our sportsmen at the Open Championship of Asia in Uzbekistan is the great success since I. Orazmyradov and M. Melayev for the first time performed at the international sports arena.
Medals in a debut will help to strengthen combative spirit of perspective Turkmen sportsmen and will add them more confidence before other responsible competitions.
Meanwhile, the youth team of Turkmenistan prepares for world championship to be held in the period from September 21 to 26 in the Russian city of Medyn. Our compatriots will fight for medals in two age groups - until 16 and 18 years. The Turkmen national team consists of five sportsmen: Amirsha Kaburov (up to 50 kg), Ilyas Berdygylyjov (up to 55 kg), brothers Meylis (up to 60 kg) and Enver (up to 65 kg) Kichikakayevs and Begenchmyrat Myradov (up to 70 kg).
