Turkmen businessmen are taking part in the 84th Izmir International Fair that started its work on August 28. The famous large scale fair, organized each year by the Ministry of Trade of Turkey and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, has brought together over a thousand exhibitors from about 60 countries of the world. Over 1.5 million people are expected to visit the 84th Izmir International Fair.

This year Turkmenistan is the partner country of the International Fair Organizing Committee. Our country therefore has brought not only a wide range of products, but also the cultural programme in Turkey. Turkmen baghshis, dancers from the famous folk groups and popular singers performed a spectacular show at the opening ceremony, adding bright colours to the festivities.

Along with the exhibition activities, the business programme includes many business meetings, including those with the high-ranking officials of economic departments of Turkey and the Izmir City Hall, the representatives of business circles of Izmir and the heads of the delegations of other countries participating in the exhibition. The presentation on the trade and economic potential of Turkmenistan and growing capacities of Turkmen entrepreneurs, for whom the participation in the Izmir Fair is another good opportunity to enhance existing contacts with the international business community and establish new ones and discuss the possibility to promote the products manufactured in Turkmenistan in Turkish market, was made in the framework of the large scale forum.

The main profiles of the International Fair include health care and medicine, mechanical engineering, chemical and petrochemical production, IT and telecommunications, agriculture, food, consumer goods, furniture and home appliances, construction and building materials and tourism. Turkmen businessmen have reached a decent level in the most of these segments, which allows them not only to significantly contribute to the implementation of the national import substitution programme, but also gain access to foreign consumers and play a significant role in enhancing exports.

Turkmenistan Pavilion at the prestigious international multi-sector trade fair has aroused keen interest, particularly with the diversity in domestically manufactured textiles – these are exquisite handmade carpets and decorative rugs that can adorn interiors and clothing with amazing handmade embroidery, designed in the spirit of traditional national costume.

A magnificent complement to them is gorgeous jewellery created by contemporary jewellers and other specimens of national decorative arts and crafts that always add picturesqueness and extraordinary expressiveness to Turkmenistan pavilions, distinguishing them among many stands of other countries on any exhibition area.

The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs presents food products from private manufacturers, including farmers associations, confectionery plants, fruit drinks manufacturers, etc., at the International Izmir Fair Centre. The industrial group of domestically manufactured goods consists of furniture, building materials, household chemicals, etc.

The products made in Turkmenistan have attracted numerous visitors and professionals due to the quality characteristics, natural ingredients and environmental friendliness. The Izmir International Fair has given Turkmen entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn about technology and the latest developments of manufacturers from other countries, exchange experiences with foreign counterparts and establish cooperation. The issues related to diversification of bilateral trade were discussed at business meetings with Turkish partners.

In Turkey the members of the Turkmen delegation also held talks with the Commissioner General of the Horticultural Expo Antalya 2016. A focus of the meeting was the participation of our country in the forum, which will take place in Antalya from April 23 to October 30 under the cheerful theme “Flowers and Children”.

The Expo Antalya 2016 is expected to feature over 100 countries and 30 international organisations. This is another significant field of business communication that contributes to honing the business diplomatic techniques of Turkmenistan and facilitates economic integration and exploration of foreign markets by Turkmen businessmen.
