The chess players from Ashgabat won four gold and two silver medals in the international tournament in Budapest. Over 50 sportsmen from Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and other countries competed for the main prizes in five categories in the Hungarian capital.
FIDE Master Makst Atabaev had the best result in the Turkmen team. He won the gold medal in the International Master category – the second important title in the world of chess. M. Atabaev gained eight points in ten rounds and advanced in the international chess rating up to 2261,5 points. This result presented the second point of the International Master qualifying standard to M. Atabaev. Thus, M. Atabaev has to gain only one point to qualify for the International Master title.
FIDE Master Annaberdi Esenov won the silver medal and ranked the second. A. Esenov yielded 0.5 points to the winner. Thus, Annaberdi gained 2303,8 points and the second point to qualify for the International Master title.
Our sportsmen ranked the first and second in the FIDE Master-A-1 category. Rustam Nazarov took the first place and Saparmyrat Atabaev won the silver medal. The Turkmen chess players gained 7.5 points each. In their game R. Nazarov defeated S. Atabaev and gained 2102,2 points. S. Atabaev, who has 12,4 points more than R. Nazarov, advanced in the rating.
The victory of Serdar Veliev in the FIDE Master A-2 category brought him more than 50 points. He has 2037,4 points in the international ranking. Ashirgeldy Annageldiev, who is beyond comparison in the FIDE Master B Category, won the forth gold medal for the national team.
