The 5th international tennis tournament Ashgabat Cup has started in the capital of Turkmenistan. It has brought together over 80 tennis players aged 13 to 18 from Russia, Turkey, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.
The competitions are held on the courts of the Ashgabat sports complex. The tennis players, who have gained victories in the qualifiers at the preliminary stage – 32 tennis players in each men’s and women’s group, will continue to compete for the Cup. The first matches at the final stage will take place on September 15. The opening ceremony of the international tournament will be held on that day.
Number one seed Master of Sports Hajimurad Charyev from Turkmenistan, who our coaches set their hopes on, performs in the men’s group. He has won the ‘home’ competitions in recent year. Last year, Hajimurad won the golden medal in doubles in the 4th Ashgabat Cup. Hangeldy Batyrov Allanur Garryev and Andrey Kashchenko from Turkmenistan men’s team have a good chance of winning.
The ‘first racket’ in Turkmenistan women’s team is in the hands of Jahan Bayramova, who has extensive experience of performing in the international arena, including the 2014 Asian Games, held in the Korean city of Incheon. Together with Jahan, the promising tennis players from Turkmenistan Maral Ahmadova, Guljan Muhammetgulyeva and Diana Bezruchenko will try their hand in the international tournament in Ashgabat.
All these tennis players have successfully gone through a series of the qualifiers and will continue to compete in the international tournament at the final stage of the Ashgabat Cup tournament that will finish on September 20.
The U18 ITF Junior Championships will follow the Ashgabat Cup tournament on the courts of the Ashgabat sports complex. The competitions, which our capital will be hosting for the 13th time, will bring together many tennis players from different countries. Winners and prize winners in the international tournament will be announced on September
