Turkmenistan prepares to welcome guests and participants in the 2017 Asian Games

The opening ceremonies of the hotel complexes Sport and Olimpiya, built on the territory of the Olympic Village, took place in Ashgabat. Many adherents of a healthy lifestyle, sports fans, foreign guests, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the upcoming OCA General Assembly, Ashgabat Hyakim, high-ranking officials, the elders and young sportsmen, well-known coaches and journalists gathered together there.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the upcoming 34th OCA General Assembly, said that the beauty of Ashgabat captivated. The distinguished guest said that programme activities, carried out in Turkmenistan’s sports sector, would give Turkmen athletes a powerful impetus to achieve good results in the competitions, held in Asia and Oceania.

The Sport Hotel represents the supermodern hotel complex, built by the Turkish company Polimeks.


It occupies a total area of 64,130 square metres. The 10-storey hotel building is resistant to earthquakes. The hotel includes 398 bright, modern and contemporary rooms, including VIP suites, deluxe suites and standard rooms. Favourable conditions, including special rooms for disabled guests, are created at the hotel for people with disabilities.

The hotel has the conference hall with seating capacity of 700 delegates and four meeting rooms with seating capacity of 43 delegates each that provide a well-equipped space suitable for a wide range of events of different formats.

The Sport Hotel has the apparatus rooms, supplied with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment; the wireless broadcasting systems that cover the entire building is available to use for simultaneous interpretation. The system also allows transmitting signals into the media room. There is the multi-purpose conference hall, equipped with advanced audio-visual facilities designed for hosting meetings, seminars and other corporate functions, in the hotel.

The hotel offers favourable conditions for guests and participants in the events. Together with the comfortable meeting room, the cosy café and snack bar and four restaurants with a total seating capacity of 1,030 visitors are at their disposal.


The hotel also houses the fitness room and gym, supplied with various fitness and sports equipment, sauna and spa centre. The spa centre offers a wide range of services, ranging from all kinds of massages, balneological and cosmetic procedures to aromatherapy and audioterapy. Many of these services can be used in a combination in spa capsules with air ionizers and with many other additional options.

Recreation areas with gazebos, flower beds, lawns and walking paths are located on the territory adjacent to the hotel.

Another building premiere was the 10-storey building of the Olimpiya Hotel. Its total area is 42,833 square metres. The hotel includes 255 rooms with comfortable furniture and necessary supply systems. State-of-the-art office and communications equipment is at the guests’ disposal.

Two restaurants for 84 and 196 visitors, two cafes and canteen for 120 visitors that offer a wide range of dishes of Turkmen and European cuisines are located on different floors of the building. The Olimpiya Hotel also houses the conference hall, six meeting rooms, two shops, post office and library.


The indoor swimming pool and spa centre, supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, are located on the first floor of the hotel building. The Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, fitness room, massage room and beauty salon are the guests’ disposal.
