Turkmen sportsmen have won silver and bronze medals at the international chess tournament for the Cup of fivefold world champion Nona Gaprindashvili in capital of Georgia - Tbilisi.
More than 100 chess players from different countries of the world have taken part at the competitions. Duels passed in mixed category among men and women. The Turkmen national team was presented only by female team where the FIDE master Ogulgerek Atabayeva has won a silver award and the candidate for the master of sports Djemal Ovezdurdiyeva – bronze one.
Ogulgerek has scored 7 points from 9 possible. The student of the national institute of sports and tourism of Turkmenistan and the pupil of the honored coach of the country Aydogdy Atabayev has conceded only 0,5 points to the winner of tournament Lila Koridze from host team of competitions.
The same quantity of points (7) was scored by D. Ovezdurdiyeva who has conceded to countrywoman in struggle for silver medal only by the sports factor ratio. To the number of special achievements of this young, but perspective 17-year-old pupil of the honored trainer of Turkmenistan Shohratkuli Muratkuliyev, it is possible to add a victory at the national championship among women from the higher league that passed in Ashgabat in June, this year.
Now our national team prepares for superiority of the world on chess that will take place at the period from October 24 to November 6 in Greece.
