Diplomatic representative offices and journalists from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan took part in the work of the first Caspian Media Forum in Astrakhan. Major events were held in modern museum-exhibition complex “Tzeygauz” of the Astrakhan Kremlin.
Welcoming the forum guests, governor of Astrakhan oblast Alexander Zhilkin expressed persuasion, “that community of mass media professionals, having united in discussions on general interesting topics, will allow forming new channel of communications in the Caspian region and serve for further strengthening of cooperation”.
On platforms of the forum, it was held working meetings concerning the issues of modern technologies of information exchange, training of specialists in the sphere of mass media, creation of single media space of the countries of the Caspian region. Awarding ceremony of winners and laureates of the international competition of journalists “Caspian dream-2015” has taken place. More than 70 creative works in various genres: reportages, interview, news materials, sketches, analytics, television and radio broadcasts have been declared for competition. In nomination “Human being and sea” (television), the winner became Muradberdy Annageldiyev, “Altyn Asyr” TV channel, who has presented at competition the documentary film “Sea-swallow on islands of Caspian Sea”.
Organizers arranged an exhibition of reprints of rare printing editions of last years. They were provided by the Astrakhan regional scientific library. Among the presented rarities, there was an edition of the collection of poems of Mahtumkuli Fragi of first half of XX century.
Within the framework of cultural events of the forum, the guests got an opportunity to familiarize with the sights of Astrakhan, enjoy opera in Astrakhan Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Delegation of Turkmenistan has met with the representatives of Turkmen Diaspora of Astrakhan oblast.
At IV Summit of the heads of Caspian states, which was also held a year ago in Astrakhan, it was talked about necessity of wider coverage of issues of economy, ecology, culture of the countries of Caspian region and interstate interaction, including in the sphere of mass media. It is obvious that for the region possessing considerable geopolitical and economic potential, it is very important the perception of potential partners and investors.
Designing of image of the Caspian Sea as the territory of peace and stability as a whole and each of five near-Caspian states, is appreciably created by efforts of mass media and, first of all, the regional.
In mass media of Turkmenistan, the topic of the Caspian region is directly connected with general vector of information strategy – the spread of politically and economically significant objective and trustworthy information. Our country is open for wide international cooperation from position of peaceful, politically and economically stable state interested in establishment of multi-aspect regional cooperation and thereupon attaches great significance to image of Turkmenistan in global information field.
