It was held the presentation of UNDP project on power saving in water economy

In the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”, it was held the starting workshop on UNDP project “Efficient use of energy and renewable energy sources for sustainable management of water economy of Turkmenistan”. International experts on ecology and power engineering, heads and specialists of several ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, representatives of regional managements of the Ministry of Water Economy of the country, Ahal province municipality, and officials of administration of its some etraps took part in the seminar of UNDP held under the aegis of the Ministry of Water Economy of Turkmenistan.

At the first plenary session of the seminar held in the conference hall of “Deniz” hotel, it was sounded the purposes and tasks of multicomponent UNDP project presented by the Ministry of Water Economy of Turkmenistan and Global Economic Fund.

This project is aimed at improvement of water resources management and efficient use of electric power while exploitation of irrigational and other water objects as well as decrease of emissions of greenhouse gases owing to introduction of innovative technologies into practice of land use.

In the course of the seminar, it was considered the organizational issues of realization of UNDP project for six years, structure of committee on project management, where the important role is given to national partners - the ministries and departments of Turkmenistan responsible for condition of water resources and agricultural fields of the country. Within the framework of agenda, it was discussed the institutional, legal and normative work conditions essential for successful implementation of the project.

Work of the seminar was continued in sections with the groups formed on various directions of project realization. Pilot investment projects on waterproofing of irrigation canals, use of solar energy in Bori settlement, decrease of filtration processes in the rivers in Kahka and construction of “Green area” in Geokdepe for approbation of innovative agricultural technologies have been presented to their attention.

Actions of annual working plan of UNDP project for 2016 also have been presented for participants of the seminar.
