The D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of Foreign Languages has played host to a French Language Week. Such events, held annually in all the languages taught at the institution, aim to promote cultural awareness and enrich knowledge.
The Week began with an exhibition of wall newspapers by students of the Department of the Romance and Germanic Languages that offered fascinating insights into the European country’s traditions, culture and history and took viewers on a journey through its cities and regions.
Online lessons taught to students learning French at the Institute sought to enhance their knowledge of France, the French language and local dialects. Clara Guiet, a specialist in online French teaching delivered a lecture on national and religious holidays and important dates in France via videoconferencing.
As part of the event, Clara Guiet gave a training session to teachers of French on online teaching methods. The modern ways of introducing new educational materials and key tools for effective learning in online classes received special attention. The French specialist also made a presentation on interactive lessons.
The Week also saw a conference entitled ‘Educated Youth: Our Future’ and two open French lessons.
The Turkmen capital’s 140th anniversary, the important date for Ashgabat residents, also came into focus during the event. Together with their teachers students looked back on the beloved city’s history and development. They were especially proud to speak about the capital’s contemporary splendor and its architectural gems which have earned spots in the Guinness World Records.
The cultural event at the Institute culminated in a concert by students, who devoted their performances to Ashgabat’s 140th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of our country’s independence.
