Day of German economy in Turkmenistan

The business forum - the Day of German Economy in Turkmenistan organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Germany’s Economy Office for Central Asia took place at the Mizan Business Centre in Ashgabat.

The forum agenda focused on the development of new mechanisms for building up bilateral cooperation in the context of opening up opportunities as well as enhancement of relations between the business circles of the two friendly countries.

At present, more than 160 joint projects are implemented in various spheres of the national economy and over 60 economic entities with the share of German capital have opened their branches and representations in Turkmenistan today.

Discussing the key areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and Germany, the forum participants presented their ideas on the issues of the mutual interest in such areas as power industry, transport and logistics infrastructure, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, construction and construction materials industry, health care and pharmaceutical industry. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere, in particular professional development programmes for managers. The issues of building up cooperation in the spheres of high technology and electric engineering were considered during the meeting.

The plenary session dedicated to the opportunities of the financial system in Germany focused on the areas of further cooperation between the banking institutions of the two states.

The plans for further cooperation given the new promising opportunities were specified during the bilateral meetings between the representatives of ministers, departments and private sector of Turkmenistan and the Federative Republic of Germany.
