Turkmen weightlifter Seyitjan Mirzayev wins silver in snatch at the Asian Championship in Tashkent

Turkmen weightlifter Seyitjan Mirzayev has won silver medal in snatch at the Asina Championship in Tashkent. The coach of sport school no. 3 of the General Department of Sports and Youth Affairs of Lebap Region, Dyanew has achieved in the weight category up to 61 kg, in which 13 sportsmen from 10 countries contested.

In first exercise, Seyitjan has lifted initial weight of 130 kg from the second attempt. He has successfully managed to lift 133 kg in the third attempt, having lifted 1 kg more than 2019 silver world champion in the weight category up to 55 kg Igor Son from Kazakhstan.

In the second, clean and jerk exercise, S. Mirzayev was the fifth. In the first attempt, he confidently lifted 150 kg. in two following ones, our sportsmen tried to lift 153 kg, which would provide him the place among the prize winners. However, he was not able to lift this weight.

In the result, Seyitjan Mirzayev was on the fifth place with personal record of 283 kg in to disciplines. This is 13 kg more that at the last championship in Pattaya (Thailand) in 2019, where he was on the 19th position among 30 athletes.

Previously, Seyitjan Mirzayev, who would be 27 on April 27, won bronze medals at 2011 junior world championship, IWF World Cup 2019 in Fuzhou (China), he was the 6th at 2020 International Solidarity Championship in Tashkent and won silver at 2019 Naim Suleymanoglu International Tournament in Gaziantep (Turkey) and the 6th at 2019 International Qatar Cup.

2016 Asian Champion, silver medalist of 2017 World Championship and 2013 World Student Games Yeiti Itokadzu (Japan) with 285 kg in total (130 + 155) won bronze medal in this weight category. Seraj Al Salim (Saudi Arabia) with 286 kg (125 + 161) won silver medal and 2019 World Champion, two time champion of Asia Li Fabin from China won gold with result of 312 kg (142 + 170).

Women have contested in the weight category up to 55 kg on the same day of Asian Weightlifting Championship. 12 sportswomen from 10 countries competed in this weight category.

2017 Vice-champion of the World Competition in Anaheim (USA) Cristina Shermetova represented our country in this program. 27-year old athlete of Honorary Coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Sariyev has managed to use only two attempts of total six in Tashkent. She lifted 88 kg in snatch and 110 in clean and jerk, which resulted in the 7th position with result of 198 kg in total. This is 12 kg less of her best result shown at 2018 World Championship in Ashgabat where she was the eighth.

Silver medalist of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games in Ashgabat in 2017 Muattar Nabiyeva (Uzbekistan) won bronze medal in this weight category with result of 213 kg (99 + 114). Two time world champion in 2013 and 2018, participant of 2016 Olympic Games Li Yatsung (China) was the second with result of 221 kg (101 + 120). 2019 World Champion, holder of the world record in clean and snatch (128 kg) Lyao Tsyuyn (China) won the gold for the second time with result of 222 kg (98 and 124).

Next set of medals at Asian Championship in Tashkent would be contested among women in weight category up to 59 kg, in which Turkmenistan will be represented by Polina Guryeva.
