Turkmen weightlifter Polina Guryeva was among the four of the strongest athletes in weight category up to 59 kg at Asian Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent.
8 sportswomen were competing for the medals in this weight category. 21-year old foster of Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Sariyev, Champions of IV Islamic Solidarity Games – 2017 has successfully lifted 91 kg and after 94 kg in snatch in two attempts. However, in the third attempt she was not able to lift 96 kg.
In clean and jerk, Polina has lifted declared 113 kg in the first attempt but 117 kg were lifted only in the final attempt.
In the result, P. Guryeva has lifted 211 in total and took the fourth place, having lost 5 kg to Hoang Thi Duyen (Vietnam) who won the bronze with result of 216 kg (100 + 116). Champion of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts in Ashgabat in 2017 Lo Syaoming (China) with 227 kg (102 + 125).
Bronze medalist of 2016 Olympic Games, four-time World Champion, holder of 12 world records Kuo Sing Chun (Taiwan) has become five-time Asian Champion with the result of 247 kg (110 + 137) and two world records in snatch and in total.
Medals in men’s weight category up to 73 kg, in which Turkmenistan is represented by bronze winner of 2019 junior World Championship Maksat Meredov, will be contested on the next day.
It is worth to remind that not only medals but also rating points, which are required for participation of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, are contested in current competitions.
