Two bronze medals were won by Turkmen fencers at the Open Championship of Ireland, which was held recently in Dublin.
About 200 athletes from 15 countries - the USA, UK, Germany, France, Holland, Portugal, Czech Republic and others took part in competitions. Medals were played in two disciplines of this kind of sport - saber and sword fencing. Turkmen residents have distinguished in saber competitions.
One of the bronze medals was gained by graduate of the school of high sports of Turkmenistan, and presently, the representative of the Central Sports Club of the Army of the Ministry of Defense Serdar Bayramov.
Another “bronze” of Aylar Melikova augmented the sport achievements of Turkmenistan. In her group, there were 20 fencers from 9 countries. In the preliminary stage of competitions, she won 4 victories and in two, conceded.
Aylar Melikova was one step away from the medal in swords competitions. Here, the Turkmen athlete gained the fifth place.
In October of this year, S. Bayramov and A. Melikova also distinguished in major competitions – the International Tournament in Finland. Then, Serdar became the owner of the gold medal, and Aylar won “bronze”.
