At the 6th World Fudokan Karate Championship in the capital of Serbia - Belgrade, the Turkmen sportsmen won 14 medals - two gold, two silver and ten bronze.
Championship of the planet hosted nearly one and a half thousand sportsmen from 36 countries of the world. In composition of Turkmen team, the best result was demonstrated by Arslan Atayev from Bayramali. The pupil of the eighth form of comprehensive school #1 has won 4 medals, including gold - in Enbu discipline (team exhibition performance of holds for time) in age group of participants of 12-13 years old.
One more gold medal was gained by the student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism Diyar Hojayev. Our compatriot had no equal in nomination Shobu ippon kumite (duels until the first exact blow) in weight class up to 63 kg. It is the second victory for Diyar in the World Traditional Karate Championships. The Turkmen resident won his first gold award at the World Championship of 2006 in individual duels among juniors.
At the current World Championship in Belgrade, Diyar Hojayev, besides gold medal, has won two more “bronze” - in individual duels of age group from 21 to 34 years old and in team kumite. In the second discipline, Rustem Annayev, Rovshen Hudayberenov and Jemshid Atayev performed together with Diyar on the wrestlers’ stage.
R. Hudayberenov and D. Atayev also have distinguished in individual counteractions. Rovshen has won “silver” in duels in group of sportsmen of 21 years old and “bronze” in Fuku-Go (performance of kata with subsequent participation in wrestling competitions), and Jemshid has risen on the third step of a podium in Shobu ippon kumite.
Two more bronze medals were gained by the student of the National sports-tourist higher educational establishment Zuhrajan Jumabayeva, who performed in age group of participants of 21-34 years old. Our karateka has caused a stir in individual kumite and Fuku-Go.
And, at last, the representatives of Ashgabat sports school of single combats of the city sport committee Selim Myratdurdiyev and Bayram Yalkabov have achieved one more “bronze” success in Enbu discipline.
All 14 medals have defined for our masters of martial arts a place among the best teams of planet.
