Performances of our sportsmen have been completed with triumph at the 2nd World Championship on Turkmen wrestling goresh and World Cup for belt wrestling, which were held in Orenburg (Russian Federation). As a result, the sport attainments of Turkmenistan have replenished with four tens of medals, 18 of them – gold, 15 – silver and 7 – bronze. This achievement provided for our national team unconditional first place in team event.
Competitions were held during five days. Over 160 sportsmen from nearly 30 countries – Finland, India, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and others competed for awards of prestigious tournaments of world level.
Championship of the planet on Turkmen national wrestling was organized for the first time under the aegis of Worldwide Goresh Federation. This sport organization, which headquarters is situated in the Turkmen capital, was founded in the mid of the last month that was dictated with necessity of intensive preparation for upcoming in 2017 V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts.
As is known, the program of complex competitions of the continental level to be held in 2017 on the basis of Ashgabat Olympic Township includes the Turkmen wrestling as well. Foundation of this Worldwide Federation will contribute to more efficient development of this kind of wrestling on the international sport arena. Organization of the 2nd World Championship on goresh in Orenburg became bright confirmation of this fact.
Current triumphal performances of the Turkmen wrestlers in Orenburg became the repetition of the success at the 1st World Championship on goresh and 12th World belt Wrestling Championship in Ashgabat. Moreover, our wrestlers improved the result according to the gained gold medals: in 2014, there were 16, and in the current year, the Turkmen wrestlers raised the highest step of podium 18 times.
Growth of sport achievements of our sportsmen testifies about systematic development of the Turkmen belt wrestling school as well as gives good cause to hope that at the Asian Games – 2017, our belt wrestlers will perform successfully and keep the lead in the team event.
