A Joint Meeting on nationalization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organized by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, brought together heads of the Ashgabat offices of the major agencies and structures of the United Nations, representatives of Mejlis and ministries and departments of Turkmenistan at the Yyldyz Hotel.

The participants focused on the implementation of the Plan of Action on nationalization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting with satisfaction that our country had been actively advocating the strengthening of the authority and role of the United Nations all these years.

During the meeting, the representatives of the UN agencies and structures reaffirmed the full support for on-going reforms in Turkmenistan, expressing gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for supporting joint efforts to achieve the common goals.

As is known, addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, held in September this year in the framework of the jubilee 70th session of the UN General Assembly, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that independent neutral Turkmenistan and the United Nations were the strategic partners that were building cooperation given global objectives facing the modern world as well as national interests and development priorities.

It should also be noted that the previous Programme of Action on the Millennium Development Goals ends in December this year. At the above Summit, UN Member States adopted the new Agenda for Sustainable Development that includes 17 goals and 169 targets.
