The State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports named the ten best sportsmen of the country in 2015. This list included mainly masters of wrestling kinds of sports - National goresh, judo, sambo, freestyle and Greco-Roman styles. During whole year, they gladdened sport fans of our country with many brilliant victories at major international competitions of international level, including Championships of World and Asia.
World-class master of sports Gulbadam Babamuratova, who has distinguished with stably high results in the judo tournaments, is at the top of list of best of the best the second year in succession.
The second place in the rating of the best athletes in our country was taken by the resident of Ashgabat Geldimyrat Toyliyev. He rose to this position owing to silver medal won at the Asian Boxing Championship among juniors, which took place in June in the capital of Uzbekistan - Tashkent.
Young athlete judoka Batyr Hojamuhammedov also was in the top three of the distinguished athletes in 2015. The pupil of the Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Altiyev became the silver prizewinner of the Asian Championship among juniors held in October in Bangkok (Thailand).
The fourth place was gained by the master of traditional karate Diyar Hojayev. During 2015, he has successfully performed at a number of major international tournaments, including the World Fudokan Karate Championship. But, his main sport achievement - a new world record in nomination “Fastest victory” D. Hojayev recorded during the Open Cup of Russia in November in Tolyatti. Here, the student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan has completed one of the matches in his favor already in the 7th second. Both our wrestlers, performing at the contests of heavyweights in the category up to 120 kg, have distinguished at the Asian Championship held in July in the capital of Myanmar - Naypyidaw, where they won the bronze medals.
The seventh place belongs to midfielder of football club “Altyn Asyr” Ahmet Atayev. For the capital team he started to play two years ago, and already won twice the Championship of Turkmenistan of major league - 2014 and 2015. With the direct participation of Ahmet, Ashgabat club became the owner of the Cup and the Super Bowl of the country last year.

His track record contains a whole collection of awards of the tournaments of world and Asian levels. In June 2015, at the zonal Championship of Asia, in the capital of Tajikistan - Dushanbe, the young chess player from Turkmenistan in an uncompromising struggle with experienced masters, grand masters, won a chance to participate in the World Chess Cup, which took place in autumn in the capital of the first European Olympic Games - Baku (Azerbaijan), having scored 7 points of 9 possible, and won in six sets a confident victory, in two - agreed to a draw and only one conceded.
