The presentation of the third volume of the encyclopaedia Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan by President of Turkmenistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took place at the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry in Ashgabat.
The heads and specialists of healthcare institutions and centres, healthcare professionals and medical students from all over the country attended the ceremony.
Those speaking at the ceremony highlighted the profound significance of the new edition that was a continuation of fundamental scientific research President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov started in 2009. It was noted that the book Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan serving as the encyclopaedia of the flora of Turkmenistan had become the reference book for Turkmen pharmacologists and medical practitioners as well as numerous readers in foreign countries as the first two volumes were translated in different languages.
The book contains a detailed description of the healing properties of native medicinal herbs, including endemic plants of our country, and the possibilities to use them in scientific and folk medicine and practices.
In the third volume medicinal plants are listed in alphabetical order of their common names. Their detailed description is supplemented by colourful illustrations.
The third volume of the encyclopaedia by the President of Turkmenistan is published as three separate books in Turkmen, Russian and English.
Underscoring the need to thoroughly study and widely promote the new publication, Turkmen healthcare professionals emphasized that the book spotlighting the fundamental principles of a healthy lifestyle would be of particular interest to the wide readership.
