The Day of Turkmen economy in Germany was held in Frankfurt on the Main on February 5. A delegation consisting of specialists from leading ministries and departments of Turkmenistan was sent to participate in the forum. The German side was represented at the forum by government members, heads of state business development institutions and experts from over 90 companies specializing in various sectors of the economy.
The agenda of the forum focused on the ways to build up bilateral partnership. German businessmen had an opportunity to learn about the economic and export potential and foreign trade and investment policies of our country and the objectives of applying innovative technologies in industry.
Those speaking at the forum noted that it would contribute to deepening Turkmen-German economic relations and facilitate the establishment of business contacts between the state and business structures of the two states.
The presentations of the ministries and departments of our country provided detailed information on the achievements of independent neutral Turkmenistan and the promising areas of cooperation in line with national development priorities. The critical aspects included economic diversification through the adoption of the latest technologies and advanced management methods in all the sectors, gradual transition to market relations and broad support for entrepreneurship.
The participants in the forum also learned about the mechanism of legal protection of foreign investors. In this context, it was noted that with the view to increasing the investment attractiveness of the national economy our country was taking consistent steps to modernize the national legislation in line with international standards in this area.
Investment projects aimed at economic diversification, broad involvement of major international financial and business organisations, including German companies, with which Turkmenistan has accumulated considerable experience of working together in a number of important areas, are to contribute to deepening fruitful partnership.
In their turn, the representatives of Germany focused on the existing profound potential for mutually beneficial and expressed their interest in expanding the presence of German business on the promising Turkmen market.
Exchanging views on promising areas of bilateral cooperation, representatives of the Turkmen delegation emphasized that Turkmenistan was interested in attracting large capital, advanced technology and deliveries of state-of-the-art machinery and equipment meeting international standards from Germany. The proposals to increase exports of competitive domestically manufactured goods to the Federal Republic of Germany were put forward.
The forum provided a platform for bilateral meetings between heads of the government agencies of the Federal Republic of Germany and German companies and representatives of ministries, agencies and the private sector of Turkmenistan who discussed the prospects of cooperation and specified plans for cooperation.
