Ashgabat hosts export commodities fair and Turkmenistan-Turkey business forum

The export commodities fair was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan jointly with the Turkish company Meridyen Uluslararasi Fuarcilik. The specialized forum as an effective platform for showcasing a wide range of products manufactured by Turkish partners and sharing the latest developments and technologies was intended to give a new impetus to trade and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries and significantly expand the areas of business activity.

The Republic of Turkey is one of the major trade partners of Turkmenistan. Taking an active part in implementing the ambitious programmes and large-scale projects launched in our country in close partnership with Turkmen counterparts, Turkish businessmen and companies seek to strengthen their position in many areas of cooperation, including construction, power, chemical and textile industries, agriculture. This is vividly illustrated by dozens of completed and on-going joint projects, progressive growth in turnover and regular business forums.


New areas of activity of business circles of the two countries were opened up during the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with representatives of major Turkish companies, which took place in Istanbul in August 2015 and gave Turkish businessmen an opportunity to put forward specific proposals building up fruitful relationships, including through diversification of economic partnership.

The participation of Turkmen entrepreneurs in the Izmir International Fair as well as specialized construction exhibitions and export commodities fairs of the Republic of Turkey held in Ashgabat on a regular basis vividly illustrate the steady growth in bilateral cooperation.

This year’s exhibition, arranged at the Exhibition Centre, is another illustration. A big delegation consisting of over 200 representatives of government agencies of Turkey, industrialists and entrepreneurs, including top managers and specialists of over 100 companies and firms that show a keen interest in the progressive promotion of effective and fruitful cooperation with our country, arrived in the capital of Turkmenistan to participate in the economic forum. It should be noted that the exhibitors included 32 companies that presented their expertise and advanced technologies in Turkmenistan for the first time.


The welcome statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants and guests in the exhibition was presented at the opening ceremony. The Turkmen leader noted that mutually beneficial relations between the two brotherly countries were dynamically developing.

The multifaceted exhibition showcased a wide range of high quality commodities exported by Turkish manufacturers, including the packages of proposals in heavy engineering construction, equipment and components for industries and agriculture, building materials, home appliances and household electronics, cabinet and upholstered furniture, textiles, household chemicals, perfumes, food products and household goods.

The exhibitors included the largest manufacturers of generators and transformers (Emsa Elektromotor, Elte Pano, Kayseri Trafo). The suppliers of windows and doors (Pakpen Plastik Boru, Em-Ka Celik), sandwich panels from insulating composite materials for walls and roofs (Assan Panel), tubular products (Netbor Plastik Boru, UFUK BORU) represented the building materials sector. The sector of fabricated metals and components for a variety of facilities, including sports complexes and stadiums, was represented by Cuhadaroglu.


The pavilion of A. O. Smith displayed a wide range of equipment and devices for water supply, sewerage and irrigation systems and the pavilion of HSC Arytym – for water treatment and ultrafiltration systems. Food freezing and storage units manufactured by Frigo Mehanika are well known in Turkmenistan.

Ladin Mob. Kanape presented cabinet furniture, upholstered beds and textile sets at the exhibition in Ashgabat for the first time. A special place was given to equipment for children’s institutions and schools, laboratories, sports grounds and stadiums.

The pavilions of home and kitchen appliances manufacturers aroused great interest among visitors to the export commodities fair. These included Beko, Simfer, Fiesta, Senser and Baymak that presented the latest models of refrigerators, washing machines, gas and electric cookers, microwave ovens and ovens, heaters, boilers and household electronics. Their pavilions also displayed kitchen appliances and lightweight plastic furniture for catering establishments.

The innovative design and the advantages of 3D televisions attracted visitors to the pavilion of Vestel. The themes of the exhibition also included household chemical, detergent and cosmetics manufacturing.

This year’s export commodities fair of the friendly country was distinguished for the participation of Turkish major promotional companies and associations of industrialists and businessmen that specialize in certain areas of business activity along with sector enterprises and firms. Their participation made it possible to showcase the potential of Turkish companies and highlight the diversity and specification of commodities they manufacture as well as facilitate and encourage the establishment direct contacts with Turkmen partners.

The big joint exhibition featuring the goods of the agricultural and food industries was presented by the gilds of producers of bulgur cereal and macaroni products from the best wheat varieties and seafood manufacturers.

In the afternoon, Turkmenistan-Turkey business forum brought together specialists from government agencies and business circles of the two countries at the Mizan business centre. The delegation of the friendly country consisted of top managers and specialists of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Foreign Economic Relations Board, Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Izmir Mercantile Exchange, Caspian Strategy Institute and about 30 major companies and firms specializing in construction, power, logistics, automotive, textile, food, electronic equipment industries and other sectors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the head of the Turkish delegation, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Elitas expressed sincere gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for providing active support to Turkmen-Turkish cooperation, emphasizing that the exhibition and business meeting illustrated the mutual willingness of the two countries to intensify and deepen bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas.
