In Motor Sports Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was held two tournaments - Cup of MIA on motor racing (on karts and racing cars “Volkicar”) and the Open Championship of the National Technical Centre for cycling (group and individual racing) dedicated to the upcoming holiday - the State Flag Day of Turkmenistan.
In competitions, on four-wheel “participants” with petrol engines, it was presented five teams. Among them, the representatives of sport club of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demonstrated the best training. So, in races on the cars of “Volkicar” brand, the athletes of Marks Orazmammedov occupied the whole podium - gold medal was gained by Guvanch Hommadov, in second place - Parahat Garliyev and Merdan Chariyev closed the top three of prizewinners.
Another “gold” was gained by team of tournament hosts according to the results of the races on karts with an engine capacity of 125 cubic centimeter of “International” class: Vyacheslav Shkunov raised the highest step. “Silver” was awarded to Kurbanberdy Danatarov (National Center for Motorsport of Turkmenistan) and bronze medal – to Vladislav Shedrin from the capital team.
A regular set of awards was played in races on karts with an engine capacity of 125 cubes of “Patriot” class. Here, representative of the sports club of the Ministry of Transport - Yuri Zhulin demonstrated the best speed qualities. His clubmate Orazmuhammed Medjekov won bronze medal. Karen Avagyan from team “Toyota service” became vice-winner.
It is noteworthy that with the opening of Sports Center of MIA (2013), all national competitions on karting and motor racing take place here. As it turned out, the perfect surface of the track is suitable not only for tournaments on motor racing, but also for organization of cycling competitions. One of them - the Open Championship of the National Technical Centre organized with support of the Cycling Federation of Turkmenistan and Nature Protection Society hosted in these February days nearly 50 best athletes of the country.
In the competitions among juniors, resident of Ashgabat Dovlet Bayramov, who won gold medals both in the group and in the individual races, was beyond comparison. In male fights in the same disciplines, Sahatov Islam and Shatlyk Geldiyev (representatives of the capital's team) raised the highest step of the podium.
Presently, Turkmen cyclists have to be preparing for the first round of the Championship of Turkmenistan, which will be held in March on the highways of Ashgabat and Motorsport Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Participants will compete for medals in three disciplines - the individual race with separate start, group racing and “Criterium”.
As is known, the cycling is involved into the program of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in 2017. Therefore, the current and upcoming tournaments on this type of sport is an important step in preparation for comprehensive competitions.
This spring, it is planned to organize the first testing international competitions in the indoor cycling track of the Olympic Township. They will host hundreds of sportsmen from several tens of countries. And in April, the referee's seminar will be held in Ashgabat with participation of one of the leading specialists of the International Cycling Union.
