The first competitions took place in the Ashgabat Olympic Township, where in September of next year, it will be held V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts. In sports- parquet indoor track cycling paths, it was determined the winners of the Cycling Championship of Turkmenistan on track program.
The teams of Lebap, Mary, Dashoguz provinces and Ashgabat – totally about 50 athletes in three age groups – youth under 16 years old, juniors born in 1998-1999 and male composition took part in the contests organized by the State Committee for Sports, the Federation and the National Technical Cycling Centre, with support of the Executive Committee of the Asian Games-2017. Medals were played in two disciplines of track cycling – “Gait” from place (individual competition) and individual pursuit.
Best sports training in the first discipline demonstrated the athletes of Ashgabat, who won whole podium in all age categories. In the youngest group, it is worth mentioning S. Gylyjov, K. Rejepov and S. Saparov. Among juniors, the medals were shared between K. Atayev, B. Seyitnazarov and O. Gayipov, and in male composition -A. Hojaguliyev, R. Amangeldiyev and Y. Ovezmyradov.
In the second discipline of track cycling, the representatives of teams of Lebap and Mary provinces have started to compete for the leadership. Athletes from Turkmenabat - U.Huseynov and G. Jepbarov won respectively gold and silver awards in the group of youth born in 2000 and younger, and cycle rider from Mary A.Hojaguliyev was out of competition in male group of participants. The only gold medal in the individual pursuit was gained by representatives of Ashgabat in competitions among juniors under 18 years old -K. Atayev.
Active assistance in organization of current competitions was rendered by the students-volunteers, who in the next year will have to work at V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts. The duties of volunteers include: filling the sports reports, maintenance of the system, informing the cycle riders about the number of passed and remaining laps to finish, and others.
As it is known, track cycling competitions are involved in the program of the Asian Games-2017. Such tournaments, including organized on the basis of the Olympic Township in Ashgabat, are essential for our national team for fruitful preparation for the main sports forum of Turkmenistan. In this regard, in autumn of the current year it is planned to hold a test competition with participation of the strongest athletes from many countries.
And on March 13 and 14, Ashgabat will host the Road Racing Championship of Turkmenistan. The first day of competitions will bring together participants in the Motorsport Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in the second - on highways and avenues Chandybil and Archabil.
Presently, the heads the Cycling Federation of Turkmenistan carried on the negotiations with representatives of the Russian Cycling Federation on organization in Ashgabat of the coaching and referee seminars, one of which is planned to hold in the near future.
With a view of preparation for the upcoming Games Ashgabat-2017, in autumn of the last year, on the instructionsr of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, it was created the National Technical Cycling Center (TSC) of Turkmenistan, which has organized jointly with the Cycling Federation the Championship of TSC. The strongest sportsmen of the country competed during several days on the road and highways of the capital and Motorsport Center of MIA.
In the same period, the National Technical Center signed an agreement with the well-known Czech company “Duratec” for purchase of modern sports bicycles and equipment. Negotiations are also underway with the International Cycling Union to contract with qualified coach to train the Turkmen cycle riders.
