Turkmenistan hosts the representative regional competitions – the 4th Central Asia Sambo Championship that is included into the calendar of the Asian Sambo Federation for the second time.
Turkmenistan conducts this important sports forum at the high organizational level. Being an ardent advocate of a healthy lifestyle the President of Turkmenistan adopted the special Resolution on holding the Central Asia Sambo Championship in Ashgabat instructing the relevant officials to ensure the high organizational level of these regional competitions aimed at promoting development of international relations in the world of sports and to become another important stage in developing sports movement that is very popular in our country.
The solemn ceremony of opening the Championship has taken place at the Galkynysh Sports and Health Improving Complex today. Preliminary combats took place in the first half of the day and finals – in the evening. In the first day of the competitions the winners were announced in five weight categories among men and women in sports sambo and in combat sambo among men. The champions in other four weight categories and winners in the team competitions will be announced on March 11.
Moreover, the organizers of the Central Asia Sambo Championship prepared a rich cultural programme for the sportsmen. Within the framework of the programme the guest get acquainted with the historical monuments and landmarks of the Turkmen capital.
