One of them – on billiards – was held today for the first time in the capital’s billiards center “Alemgoshar” with participation of teams from 12 higher educational institutions of the country.
Medals of the Tournament organized by the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan, the Billiards Federation, the Ministry of Education and еру Youth Sports Organization “Turkmenistan” were played in the discipline “Free Pyramid”, where according to the rules, each of 16 balls is onside and it is possible to strike them by the cue.
Best game was demonstrated by the student of the State Fine Arts Academy of Turkmenistan Begench Jumagylyjov, who won a victory in the final match with a score of 3: 1 over the representative of team of the Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications Saglyk Abdiyev. Third place was shared among Mekan Nepesov (Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi) and NepesYanybayev (the State Medical University of Turkmenistan).
According to the chief referee of the competitions, the judge of the international category Gurban Abasov, the current tournament was a serious test for his assistants as well. Student volunteers from the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan followed after the game at pool tables. They have to serve the billiards competitions at V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in September of next year in Ashgabat. This largest sports forum will become a record according to number of participating teams: about 5000 athletes from 62 countries of Asia and Oceania.
Currently, the Turkmen national team is preparing for the World Billiards Championship in the discipline “Combined pyramid” (there is only one ball to play), which will be held from March 28 to April 2 in Almaty (Kazakhstan). In addition, in the current year, on the basis of the Ashgabat Olympic Township, it will be organized the first international test competitions on this kind of sport. Both tournaments are important steps in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games - 2017.
According to the Billiards Federation of Turkmenistan, our team will be represented at the Asian Games by two dozen of athletes. The selection for the national team is realized through the system of scoring the points, obtained at the Championships and Cups of the country.
Returning to the topic of student competitions, it is worth mentioning that among the added sports disciplines in the program of the Universiade -bowling and national game “yedi top”. The first bowling tournament, involved like billiards into program of V Asian Games, will be held from March 28 to 30 in the capital’s shopping and entertainment center “Berkarar” and competition on national game will take place from April 10 to 17 at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan.
