The main goal of the meeting held for the sixth time is to strengthen the trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, to specify new areas of cooperation and create favourable conditions to intensify the partnership between the business structures of the two countries.
The heads and representatives of core ministries and departments, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan represented our country at the forum held in the conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce and industry of Turkmenistan. The delegation of the Russian Federation was represented by the heads of government structures, Nizhniy Novgorod and Astrakhan oblast municipal administration, large enterprises, more than 60 companies and firms working in various sectors of the national economy as well as members of the High Level Group to promote trade and investments.
Mutual understanding and confidence established between the leaders of the two states and the aspiration of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation to bring the traditional interstate relations up to the new level given the priorities and requirements of the modern time serve as an important factor for fruitful partnership.
It was noted that intensification of the Turkmen-Russian economic relations played a special role in strengthening the strategic partnership. That is vividly proved by the regular contacts at various levels and bilateral agreements achieved. Since the beginning of this year, the delegations of Turkmenistan has participated in various business events in Moscow, Orel and Astrakhan regions. New areas of cooperation were specified during the Turkmen-Russian economic forum held in Yekaterinburg recently.
For many years, the leading Russian companies have been actively involved in the implementation of national programs of Turkmenistan aimed at developing the industrial sector, the spheres of construction and transport, etc. Among them are Vozrozhdeniye, KAMAZ, Areti, Zarubezhneft and S7 airlines.
Sales turnover figures vividly demonstrate the successful development of partnership between the two states. In this context, it was noted that the list of products supplied from Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation has significantly increased in recent years.
The Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian commission for economic cooperation plays an important role in strengthening bilateral relations. Speaking about the importance of the new structure established in the framework of the Commission – the High-level Group on Promotion of Trade and Investment, the forum participants emphasized that its work would contribute to implementation of agreements reached by the parties and development of new forms and mechanisms for diversifying the partnership.
It was also noted that wide opportunities for cooperation had been opened up given the complex programmes initiated in our country with the aim to diversify the industrial sector, modernize the relevant infrastructure, introduce new technologies and develop knowledge-intensive production. In this regard, there is great potential for the Turkmen-Russian partnership in almost all spheres, including in the field of mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, fuel and energy, power and chemical industries.
Construction, textile industry, bilateral relations between the institutions of the foreign economic activity were specified among the key areas of cooperation. In this regard, the forum participants focused on the further promotion and expansion of the range of products manufactured by Turkmen and Russian producers in the markets of Turkmenistan and Russia.
The agro-industrial complex was also specified among the priority spheres of cooperation. A number of documents were signed between the businessmen of the two states during the meeting.
Bilateral meetings held within the framework of the forum provided a platform for discussing the opportunities of the Russian companies’ participation in implementation of ambitious reforms initiated by the President of Turkmenistan.
The exposition of vehicles by GAZ Group, a part of one of the largest diversified industrial companies in Russia “Basic Element” was organized within the framework of the Turkmen-Russian business forum.
