Mutual enrichment of cultures is important vector of international cooperation

The administrative center of Dashoguz region were prepared to meet delegations, who arrived to participate in the opening ceremony of the program festivities marking the declaration of Dashoguz the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2016.


In early morning at the Dashoguz airport foreign guests were given a cordial welcome by the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member states, artists, masters of Arts and creative teams of the Commonwealth countries.

The declaration of Dashoguz the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2016 is of particular importance as the city integrate modern infrastructure with respect for historical heritage. It is the area of attention of world’s scientists. Preserved in the northern region of the country the unique architectural monuments, which are included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, became a vivid subject for joint research and restoration work in cooperation with national and foreign experts.


The city Dashoguz unites both history and modernity in its dynamic progression. In recent years, there were constructed numerous objects of social and cultural facilities, tens of thousands of square meters of comfortable housing, powerful industrial facilities. There are a number of original new buildings with its unique architectural originalities. A good example of it is the Wedding Palace which is white marble building, museum of regional studies, and regional library, a new mosque for 3000 people, comfortable hotels, a hippodrome and etc.


In recent years, there are several international events and large scale forums organized. There are a culture week (an annual event), a festival of friendship between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and a number of international scientific conferences. In November 2015, on initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the International Conference was organized in Ashgabat and Kunyaurgench on "Dialogue of Cultures on the Silk Road”. Scientists from 37 countries took part in this event. Dashoguz region is one of the most popular tourists sightseeing among local and foreign travelers.

Located at the important crossroads of the Silk Road, Dashoguz has always been considered one of the most welcoming cities in the East. The guest and visitors, who arrived in the early morning to the airport of the northern region of the country, were greeted with bread and salt.

The first day of their agenda included the sightseeing of historical monuments.


In ancient Dashoguz worked and created, did research such outstanding thinkers, scientists and famous poets of the East as Abu Rayhan Biruni, Mahmyt Zamahshari, Najmeddin Kubra, Mahmyt Palvan, Aşhyk Aydin, Nurmuhammet Andalib, Abdylla Shabende, Gurbanaly Magrupi, who have made outstanding contribution to the development of world science and culture increasing the glory of the Turkmen people.

In the afternoon, the foreign visitors visited the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Kunyaurgench", unique architectural monuments, amended by the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which gone through the ages and nowadays carefully preserved original customs and traditions of our people.


Guests were warmly welcomed and familiarized with Arts and Crafts Museum, a starting rout of pilgrimage leading to the memorial complex "Uch Yuz altmysh". In the installed yurts they could learn Turkmen way of life, Turkmen handicrafts, try some national dishes and drink hot green tea.

Visiting the architectural ensemble of the mausoleums Najmeddin Kubra and Sultan Ali, the Museum "Dash Mosque" and the mausoleum Tyurabek Khanum, as well as monuments of Dash-Kala - "Portal caravan-sarai", mausoleums Il Arslan, Tekesh are magnificent building which considered one of the highest buildings in Central Asia. The minaret of Kutlug Timur is consummate mastery and talent of Turkmen architects who had left behind a masterpiece of architectural art.


Tomorrow at the Palace of Ruhiyet will be organized festivities to launch event of the year "Dashoguz - the cultural capital of the Commonwealth". There is about large concert program with participation of creative teams and artists. Moreover, there will be opening exhibitions of fine art, arts and crafts and photo arts of masters of the CIS countries in the Museum of Regional Studies of Dashoguz region.
