Running on peak of mountain Dushak-Erikdag in mountain range Kopetdagh became the first competition going to offset of the Cup of Turkmenistan on sky running. The Cup is included in a calendar of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports and tournament is organized by “Аgama” mountaineering club. Assistance in organization of the running on Dushak has rendered by Archabil etrap municipality of the Turkmen capital.
Mountain Dushak-Erikdag is the third by height in the country - practically two and a half thousand metres. It is the highest point for running within the framework of competitions in this year. And drops of heights is the greatest, almost two kilometres that makes this distance as one of the most difficult, stayers. Running started in Gekdere in the neighbourhood with “Yashlyk” Children’s Health Center.
The route has run along a path known for many fans of mountain campaigns under the name “Watershed”. On the way, the sportsmen should reach two control posts at the height of 1100 m and 2000 m. Distance long and uneasy, at such heights in March there can be a snow, and the cold wind is almost guaranteed.
Weather this year promoted good results. Snow on a line was only on the most high-mountainous sites. Light clouds and the wind carry the freshness.
The first place with a line record in 2 hours 11 minutes was gained by Alekper Akhmedov from “Аgama” mountaineering club - one of the most skilled sportsmen-sky runner of the country, the participant of national and international competitions, in particular, on Elbrus and in Alps. Alexander Shabanov became the second, and Sergey Arhipov finished the third. Among women, the best was Anna Pashelskaya from Balkanabat “Mert” mountaineering club.
As the main judge of competitions Valeriy Kotvin noted, the Cup of Turkmenistan sky running - long tournament, having begun in March, it will come to the end only in December. It is planned five high-rise runnings.
Besides already held running on Dushak, the next is planned in May on mountain Markou. September will be marked by a traditional mass ascension in honour of the World Tourism Day. Within its framework, it will be held the third stage – the running on Harlasang. In November, it will be held the running on Arlan - the highest peak of Big Balhan. Well, and the final stage, as in the last year, will take place on the Health Path.
For each stage, the sportsmen, competing for the Cup, accumulate the scores. As more successful stages as better results.
