Turkmen karatekas won one gold and three bronze medals of the international tournament in Baku that brought together over 190 sportsmen from six countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The hosts were represented by nine teams.
The winners were defined in two age categories. Candidate for Master of Sport E. Saparov (under 60-kg category), who gained three victories, won the gold medal in the U15 group.
Candidates for Master of Sport R. Mergenov (under 65-kg category), and V. Yakubov as well as Master of Sport R. Garaev (under 70-kg category) won the bronze medals in the competitions among juniors (under 17).
Honoured Coaches of Turkmenistan B. Bayramov nd G. Saparmyradov and Chairman of the National Karate Centre of Turkmenistan A. Hudayberdiev prepared the team for the competitions.
