The whole set of medals was won by representatives of famous chess dynasty of Atabayevs. Gold award was gained by student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism, International Master Yusup Atabayev, who collected 12 points from 15 possible. During fights, he had suffered no defeat, having won a victory in nine parties and in six - agreed to a draw.
The most eminent among brothers Atabayevs is Maksat, who has the highest chess title (International Grandmaster), satisfied with the second place. Three-time champion of Turkmenistan and student of NIST was behind the winner by 0.5 points only. The fate of gold medal was decided by personal meeting of brothers, where for Yusup it was enough to win a draw, having won for the first time the title of the best chess player of the country.
Master of sports Saparmurat Atabayev became the owner of bronze medal. The youngest of the brothers, who is the pupil of the capital’s secondary school №117, scored 10 points.
In addition to medals, the chess players competed for the fourth and fifth places, which give the right to be in the composition of the national team for participation in 2016 World Chess Olympiad. Besides the brothers Atabayevs, the team of Turkmenistan included: international grandmaster Hanjar Odeyev and master of sports Mergen Kakabayev.
From May 7 to 17, five of the strongest chess players of the country will have to try their hand at the Traditional International Tournament “First Saturday”, annually held in Budapest (Hungary). But the main test awaits them in the next year, because this intellectual sport is a part of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts. So that the Hungarian tournament, and the World Olympiad - an important stage of preparation for the “home” Asian Games.
Ashgabat-2017 also awaits our athletes, who demonstrate good results in competitions of national level. The bright evidence of that is the current championship of Turkmenistan, which hosted about 200 participants from all provinces and the capital. The venue of competitions became the indoor arena of the Olympic Village, which will host next year the V Asian Games, the sports complex “Kopetdag” and stadium “Dagdan”.
The fight for the medals in this tournament has been particularly sharp and uncompromising as its results depend on the choice of candidates for an Olympic ticket to Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Capital athlete is included in the junior group, but it does not prevent her to lead the confrontation with the older, more experienced athletes. In the men’s group, athlete from Mary Begmyrat Makgayev overcame the 400-meter distance faster that all others (49.0 sec.).
Another good result - in the high jump is worth of attention. Here, the victory was gained by Alena Hudaybergenova, having taken the bar at a height of 163 centimeters.
Now, the Turkmen athletes to be preparing for a major international tournament - Kossanov memorial that will be held in June in the Kazakh city of Almaty. According to the results of these competitions, it will be selected two best athletes, who will represent our country at the Olympics in Rio.

In karting competitions, there were 11 cars on the start. In persistent struggle the victory was gained by Yuri Zhulin from team of the Ministry of Motor Transport. In the second place - Vyacheslav Shkunov (Motorsport Center of MIA) and Karen Avagyan (Auto Centre “Ashgabat”) closed the top three winners.
In the race on “Volkicar”, the whole podium was occupied by representatives of the team of Motorsport Center. Guvanch Hommodov raised the highest step, Begench Annayev – in the second place and bronze medal - to Parahat Garliyev.
In the last decade of this month, on the same race track, it will be held another Cup of MIA on motorsport dedicated to the Day of workers of the Interior, which is celebrated annually on May 29.
