It will help to assess the level of readiness of sports facilities and various services in our country to the 2017Asian Games. “The Asia Sambo Championship will be held at the indoor athletic arena in the Olympic town, which is designed for 5,000 spectators. 500 people, including athletes, journalists, coaches and sports experts from 22 countries will arrive in our country to participate in the tournament. We have already passed several stages in frameworks of the preparations for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games. Our experts studied the practices of hosting major sporting events. The members of the Executive Committee on preparations for the V Asian Games attended the IV Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Incheon in 2013, 2014 Summer Asian Games in Incheon, 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and Baku 2015 European Games. Immediately after the announcement of Ashgabat the venue for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, a complex of measures on the preparations for the Games were developed under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, most of which have already been successfully implemented.
The ceremony of laying foundation of the Olympic Village took place on November 5, 2010. Since then, more than 30 sports and service facilities have been built on the 157-hectare territory of the Olympic Village. Implementation of projects is carried out in three stages, the two of which have been already completed, the final stage of construction is being implemented now. At the same time, the high-quality sports infrastructure is established in the country, transport and hotel chains are modernized and the most comfortable conditions for all participants of the major sports are created.
The programme of the IV Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will include 21 sports events. More than 5,000 athletes from 62 countries of the Asian region and Oceania as well will participate in the Games. Over 1,000 media representatives will arrive in our country to give coverage to the 2017 Asian Games.
The representatives of the Executive Committee attended the General Assembly of the Oceania National Olympic Committees in April, 2015. Within the framework of the meeting, the representatives of our country made a presentation on the preparations for the V Asian Games, highlighting the conditions of participation and accreditation as well as sports included into the programme of the 2017 Asian Games and information about the Olympic Village. The presentation aroused keen interest in Turkmenistan as a promising and reliable partner.
We also invite world-class coaches to ensure the effective preparation of the national teams of Turkmenistan for the V Asian Games.
An important human resource within the preparations for the V Asian Games is volunteers. We registered more than 400 volunteers from 16 higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan to serve the Asia Sambo Championship. The key criteria for selecting volunteers include the English language knowledge, communication skills, first aid skills, conscientiousness, commitment to sport and healthy lifestyle. All volunteers were preliminary trained and familiarized with the work of the Olympic Village facilities.
Moreover, in accordance with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the athletes will be tested for doping during the competitions.
The qualification Asia Sambo Championship will be a serious indication of the readiness of our country for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games, which, we believe, will be held at the high level, promoting effective international cooperation, strengthening peace and mutual understanding between nations”.
