Our sportsmen won two silver medals in the Thai boxing world championships held in the Swedish city of Jönköping

More than 900 fighters from nearly 100 countries attended the competitions. The Turkmen athletes demonstrated a good level of training readiness.

One of the silver medals of contest in the men’s 57kg category was won by Rustem Bayramdurdyev. There were three fights in the ring by our compatriot in the first fight, he knocked out the representative of Hong Kong team in the semifinal won the Canadian and in decisive battle still lost a fight to an athlete from Morocco.

The second "silver" medal was enriched sports achievements of Turkmenistan by Mustafa Saparmyradov (up to 67 kg). He participated in four duels, two of which were completed ahead of schedule with a knockout. And both duels - in the early rounds competed with athletes from Denmark and Mexico. M. Saparmyradov deactivated a Kyrgyz athlete from the further fight for a gold medal, and in the final stubborn duel he gave way to representative of Turkey team.

Currently, members of the national team of Turkmenistan has prepared to the Asian Beach Games which will be held in Vietnam in September this year, and the World Cup which will be held in Russia in November this year.

The main competition for Turkmen masters of Thai boxing will take place next year, because this kind of fight is included in the program of the V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts which is expected to take place in Ashgabat Olympic village.
